Searching.........

I will be starting a new job soon, and since no one working there seems to wear suits everyday, it's time for some new clothes! Although the dress code is quite relaxed i'd still like to dress quite professional...but with an edge.

Im yet to discover where the 'edge' will come from, but to start with the basics, i am in desperate need of a boyfriend blazer. The requirements are the following:

  • It must be black (so much easier to pair with anything and everything)
  • It must be fitted, tailored
  • Of a wool & silk mix (think quality and comfort)
  • It must have an interesting trim

I plan to wear the blazer over dresses, and skinny trousers with pretty blouses (but more of that to come once i find the perfect blazer!)

Any suggestions?

My current 'to buy' list

Miu Miu Cashmere/Silk Cardigan
Simple black cardi's are a must have for everyone's wardrobe. They can be worn with most outfits and are quite handy the whole year round, especially when layering. Up until now i've always purchased a black cardi from one of the high street stores (think h&m, Zara, Gap etc), but they don't seem to last that long. Im hoping that something like this Miu Miu cashmere/silk blend one will last a little longer and have more of a timeless appeal.

Sonia Rykiel Lace Short Sleeve Top
As my own style has developed over the past few years, i've noticed that pretty little blouses with elegant details are very 'me'. This Soniya Rykiel piece gives off a certain Chanel-like vibe to me, but other than that you just can't go wrong with a basic black & white top with lace detailing!

See by Chloe Ruffled Cotton Blouse
Another blouse, but in the shade of a must have this season - coral. It's flirty, its girly and just so cute with the ruffles :)

Anita Ko Diamond Encrusted Huggie Earrings
Now im actually looking for some everyday earrings in 24 karat gold, but unfortunately the metal seems to be too soft for daily wear...especially with the designs i have in mind! Also there doesn't seem to be many online stockists of 24 karat jewellery either (any suggestions?), so im looking at other alternatives.

Like most girls, i love diamonds and at the moment im looking for something to go along with my diamond ring that i wear everyday. I adore these Anita Ko earrings pictured above...very simple and elegant. A must have piece of jewellery for me!

Stella McCartney Oversized Sunglasses
My vintage sunglasses recently broke, so im in desperate need of some new shades! I think these Stella McCartney oversized shades are a great alternative to the tortoiseshell effect ones you see everywhere. There is a very earthly and natural feel to the wooden effect, and i love the shape of the frame!

The perfect oversized clutch

Anyone who knows me well, can tell you how much of a handbag addict i am. Although i don't own alot of handbags, whatever i do buy has to fit into my style, as i intend to carry them season after season.

For a while now, i have been on the search for an oversized clutch that i can use during the day and when needed during the evening as well. For me clutches are just so elegant and feminine...there is something about them, that if carried during the day, they give a little edge to an outfit.

At one point, i was quite obsessed with the Fendi Whipstitch oversized clutch...unfortunately it was just too big and way too expensive! So since then my search has continued. That is until Mulberry came up with the answer!

Photobucket

Ever since i have laid eyes on the Mulberry Bayswater Clutch i've known it was the clutch for me! With it's simplicity, clean lines and size, it's the perfect oversized clutch to hold enough of my personal belongings (purse, mobile, ipod, perfume, notebook etc etc), yet not too big to carry. However the best thing about this clutch is that it comes with a hidden strap that can be easily attached for it to be transformed into a shoulder bag!

I do love the pink pictured above, and it would be pretty for summer, but i personally have my eye on the black cracked metallic leather version. I don't know about you, but having your bags and accessories in neutral colours just makes it easier to wear with any style of outfit.

Now i just need to get my hands on one.....

Effortless and chic

Some people love her style, and some people love to hate it. Sonam Kapoor, the style darling of Bollywood never fails to wow at events or in candids....and what wow's me even more is the fact that she doesn't have a stylist. It's all 'her'!

Last night (2nd June 09), the gorgeous Sonam and her co-star Imran Khan unveiled the latest issue of Filmfare, that features the charming two (naturally). As you can see, Sonam wore a navy silk jumpsuit, acessorised with a quirky owl necklace, beautiful antique gold jewellery and a statement oversized snakeskin clutch.

As usual, Sonam's outfit is being discussed to great depths around the web...some love it, some hate it...but i *adore* it! I've been a fan of Sonam's style ever since her first appearence during the promotions of Saawariya, and since then...till now, and with all the editorials thrown in. I must say, her style in my opinion, gets better every time.

Jumpsuits are perhaps one of the most difficult outfits to pull off, so i guess it helps that Sonam is 5'9 plus. But what i love is just how she carries herself, and looks so at ease...add to that the beautiful gold accessories and a statement clutch, just makes the overall look perfect. Effortless and chic!

Yves Saint Laurent Cruise 2010

It's nice to see Stefano Pilati introduce some colour into his latest collection...simply because i can't recall such bright colours being present in any of the recent ones!

The cruise collection for 2010, is refreshing and bounces of a very luxury meets comfort feel to it. The clothes may be slightly cheaper than those from the main collection, but each piece has a very timeless quality. So when the economy may not be doing so great, Stefano offers simple, classic yet statement pieces to push the gloominess away. Take for example the orange trench, that can be worn year round, or the green cocktail dress with its beautiful balloon sleeves.

See what i mean about luxury meets comfort......
Or how about some crisp tailoring with a classic white blazer or a balloon sleeved bolero which takes a little inspiration from a couture piece.....

To add a little twist to the collection and to give a bohemian feel to the overall look...prints, shells and earthly materials have been used to clash with the feminine cuts of the collection.

Musical composition of life

'While people are fairly young and the musical composition of their lives is still in its opening bars, they can go about writing it together and exchange motifs, but if they meet when they are older.....their musical compositions are more or less complete, and every motif, every object, every word means something different to each of them.'

Chanel Cruise 09.10 Venice

Some of my favourite looks from the Chanel Cruise 09.10 collection, which was shown last week....
I love how Karl has gone back to the classic 1930s look, but has updated it with bold statement makeup, and interesting shoes. On another note....im sure this dress pictured above, has been inspired from a vintage Chanel piece....but i still adore the draping with what what appears to be a beautiful piece of jewellery.
A little twist on the classic Chanel suit. Looking at how the red tights clash with the white, i guess i see a red tights trend starting soon!

What a comfy outfit! I could imagine wearing this, and i definitely love the pop of gold.

Not so sure on the trousers, but i love the jacket.

Im not normally one for prints, but these two dresses pictured above, are just so pretty and floaty...something just draws me to them.
It's all about the cardi! How cute and classic is this little version in red!
